Embedding Empathy in Healthcare to Enhance the Patient and Provider Experience
Empathic care is closely tied to greater patient safety and patient satisfaction including better health outcomes, clinician well-being, and few malpractice claims. This presentation will highlight novel empathy research that demonstrates empathy can be taught to medical professionals with sustainable behavior changes.
Dr. Riess is the Director of the Empathy Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Her Empathy and Relational Science Research Team at MGH conducts translational research on the neuroscience of emotions. She is the co-founder, Chairman, & Chief Scientific Officer of Empathetics, LLC.
