Blind Spots of Diversity, Inclusion & Implicit Bias

Diversity measures our ability to share differences, build relationships, and be creative thinkers. Inclusion measures our ability to embrace these differences through participation. Implicit bias limits our ability to be successful in diversity and inclusion efforts without even knowing it.

Join Anita Foster for this captivating look at the dynamics of diversity and inclusion and discover our ability to see the blind spots of implicit bias. Foster will examine how training and mentorship can expedite professional development, engage diverse ideas, and leads to improved customer experiences, faster innovation, and greater staff retention rates.

Tips for your prESENTATION
  • Content is king – If you really want to impress the audience, pack your presentation with powerful content.
  • Make it compelling – Our audience is composed of administrators, support staff, clinicians, direct caregivers, and industry partners. Learning levels are diverse, with the majority of participants being high level/theoretical to mid-level/practical.
  • Be authentic and vulnerable – Don’t be afraid to speak of failure as well as success.
  • Customize – Be sure your content truly speaks to the association audience and is customized to their unique situations.
  • Knowledge sharing is the most effective marketing – Sales pitches disguised as education will result in poor ratings and lost opportunities.

NOTE: Presentations must be educational. We understand that some of our speakers wish to network with attendees and showcase their services, but we kindly ask that your presentation not be a sales pitch. Networking time will be made available to speakers, sponsors, and attendees for this purpose. We appreciate your cooperation.

Conference Takes a Break

New Challenges. New Opportunities.

Watch your e-mail for online and in person networking opportunities throughout 2020

Due to concerns of  the coronavirus (COVID-19), and in accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other state and federal health authorities, we have decided to cancel the New England Home Care & Hospice Conference and Trade Show scheduled for May 13-15 in Newport, Rhode Island.  It is increasingly clear that although we hope and pray for the situation to improve by mid-May, we cannot guarantee the health and safety of attendees, resort employees, local residents or our staff. Speakers, exhibitors and attendees who had already registered have been contacted with information regarding booth contracts, registrations and refunds. Please contact info@nehcc.com for immediate concerns.

The good news is, while you are focused on the task at hand, we will explore other ways to evolve the educational and networking aspects of the conference so we can connect with you throughout the year. This is an opportunity for us to unite our community in new ways; to learn, to connect, and to grow… together. Please watch for additional information coming soon. Further updates regarding the conference will be published on www.nehcc.com.

Our conference planners are working with Gurney’s Newport Resort and Conference Center to select dates for next year. By the time we gather there next spring we will have so much to catch up on! Many Voices, United Mission

There isn’t one type of patient or one type of caregiver that creates the home care difference. The advantage lies in the industry’s ability to adapt quickly and effectively, to respond to changing demands while continually delivering high performance. The 10th annual New England Home Care and Hospice Conference and Trade Show in Newport, RI this May will celebrate the strengths of the disciplines by showcasing keynote speakers

England Home Care and Hospice Conference and Trade Show announced keynote speakers Maggie Keen of myCNAjobs and Hospice Chaplin Jeff Vankooten, will deliver keynote addresses at the event on May 14, 2020 at Gurney’s Resort, Newport in Rhode Island. Also appearing will be noted author and speaker Kimberly Paul, as well as expert policy researchers Jennifer Schiller and Heather Flynn.

“It is a fitting way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Conference to hear from a diverse cross section of speakers,” said Gina Balkus, CEO at the Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care Alliance of New Hampshire. “That really speaks to the many facets of people that make up our industry.”

“Kimberly Paul and our other renowned speakers will challenge us to boldly imagine and explore new futures for themselves, their businesses, and their communities.”

The nonpartisan, nonprofit conference is New England’s largest professional development event for home care, hospice and palliative care, attracting more than 300 attendees each year. The 10th Anniversary Conference will feature dozens of speakers for three days of inspiration, reinvention and networking. Topics include leadership, career advancement, financial and regulatory issues, health and wellness, small business and entrepreneurship, social media, branding and more.

The Conference Health & Wellness Pavilion showcases speakers and companies dedicated to improving women’s health, while onsite exhibits feature hundreds of organizations and companies with products or services that appeal to women.

The New England Home Care & Hospice Conference and Trade Show is presented by Simione Healthcare Consultants. It is also generously underwritten by MedFlyt and Axxess.
