Violence in the Workplace: Optimizing Worker Safety

April 30 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

The home care industry has been designated high risk for violence by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Each time home care workers enter a patient’s home and community, they face a variety of safety challenges, including: unsafe neighborhoods; use of mass transit; encountering other individuals; weapons and animals in the household; illicit drug use in the home and/or neighborhood; and more. This interactive session will expand upon and highlight agency and employee responsibilities in workplace safety, including the development of a workplace violence prevention plan, as well as provide education for staff on safety tips.
