Reconnect at the Art & Dinner Soirée

Immerse yourself in art, history and culture at the 2023 Art & Dinner Soirée as part of your experience at the 13th Annual Home Care & Hospice Conference and Trade Show. This year the traditional networking dinner will be hosted at the Currier Museum of Art on May 3, in Manchester NH.

After a full day of conference sessions, relax and gather with fellow attendees and their guests for a cocktail, explore the galleries, and share a meal. The entire museum has been reserved for our event. Museum docents will be available for group tours, or you may explore the exhibits on your own.

Join us for this evening activity for exhibitors, attendees, and their guests. Event tickets include museum admission as well as the catered dinner. A cash bar will also be available.

The NEHCC committee welcomes Speaker Presentation applications from a diverse audience of home health and healthcare experts. Join us May 2-4, 2023, at the DoubleTree in Manchester, NH for the 13th annual regional conference.

Conference Overview

The New England Home Care and Hospice Conference is hosted by the six New England state home care and hospice associations, which collectively represent nearly 400 organizations. This regional conference is designed for senior and mid-level administrative and clinical staff. The conference features multiple keynote sessions, workshops, and intensive programs. Topics are designed to meet the needs of all agencies, including Medicare-certified, private duty, and hospices. The trade show is the largest home health and hospice expo in the Northeast.

Review Guidelines & Criteria

Each proposal is reviewed and evaluated according, with preference shown toward those that present:

Relevance to home care and hospice;
Identified objectives;
Timely or innovative topics;
The overall quality and a well-defined focus;
Practical application of materials;
Teaching/speaking experience of the presenter; and
Freedom from commercial bias

There is no limit to the number of proposals a presenter may submit.

Tips for your presentation

Content is king – If you want to impress the audience, pack your presentation with powerful content.
Make it compelling – Our audience comprises administrators, support staff, clinicians, direct caregivers, and industry partners. Learning levels are diverse, with most participants being high-level/theoretical to mid-level/practical.
Be authentic and vulnerable – Don’t be afraid to speak of failure and success.
Customize – Be sure your content truly speaks to the association audience and is customized to their unique situations.
Knowledge sharing is the most effective marketing – Sales pitches disguised as education will result in poor ratings and lost opportunities.

NOTE: Presentations must be educational. We understand that some of our speakers wish to network with attendees and showcase their services, but we kindly ask that your presentation not be a sales pitch. For this purpose, networking time will be made available to speakers, sponsors, and attendees. We appreciate your cooperation.

Engaging and Empowering Maine’s Direct Care and Support Professionals

With a grant from the Maine Health Access Foundation and funding from the DHHS, Office of Aging and Disability Services, the Maine Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program worked with ETHOS to conduct focus groups with direct care and support professionals from across the state to learn from them about what is important to them regarding their employment. In this presentation, we will share the results of the focus groups along with recommendations for change. Attendees will also learn about Maine’s first, Direct Care and Support Professional Advisory Council which was established to create a forum for input regarding workforce initiatives. This 17-member Council can make a difference by informing policymakers about the changes that are needed to attract and retain direct care and direct support professionals.

VBP: Connecting Finance and Quality Management

The recent announcement by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to delay the national expansion of the Medicare Value Based Purchasing (VBP) model until 2023 offers home health agencies a year of “pre-implementation” preparation opportunities to align quality with finance management. This session will provide the latest information on the construct of the VBP model and implementation timelines and will provide a practical approach for incorporating the VBP performance measures into quality and financial management strategies. This session will also examine scenarios to measure the impact of specific performance improvements on resulting financial outcomes and will explore strategies for achieving optimal quality performance.

Aaron Little, CPA, Managing Director, BKD, oversees the operations of BKD Health Care Billing & Revenue Cycle Services and is nationally recognized for his expertise in home care and hospice billing and operations. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana Association for Home & Hospice Care and the CGS Home Health and Hospice Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group.

Angela Huff, RN is a member of BKD National Health Care Group and provides consulting services to home care and hospice clients. Debbie uses humor and compassion drawn from 25 years of experience in Law Enforcement and 17 years as a family caregiver into her profession as a therapist and presenter.
