2023 NEHCC Call For Speakers:

Deadline to submit has been EXTENDED

Need a bit more time? Well, that’s fair

We’ve got a great pool of talks already awaiting review, but we want to have yours too! The new deadline is November 22, 2022– but this one is a hard deadline, since we’re going to need some time to read through these wonderful submissions and make those hard decisions.

What happens next?

What a great question!

After November 22, we’ll start the process of selecting talks and setting a schedule. We’ll first rank the talks using anonymized information about the submissions focusing on the content alone. That doesn’t finish the selection process, however. Choosing on content alone might leave us with three talks by the same person, or with poor representation from some aspects of our diverse community. After we’ve selected our first set of talks, we’ll do a second pass to intentionally shape a varied and representative group of speakers. The process takes time. We appreciate your patience.

Our goal is to contact every applicant during the last week of January 2023 to let you know one way or the other.

What are you waiting for?

Don’t wait until the last minute, unless that’s something that works well for you. (Fellow procrastinators of the world, unite!)

Tips for your presentation

  • Content is king – If you want to impress the audience, pack your presentation with powerful content.
  • Make it compelling – Our audience comprises administrators, support staff, clinicians, direct caregivers, and industry partners. Learning levels are diverse, with most participants being high-level/theoretical to mid-level/practical.
  • Be authentic and vulnerable – Don’t be afraid to speak of failure and success.
  • Customize – Be sure your content truly speaks to the association audience and is customized to their unique situations.
  • Knowledge sharing is the most effective marketing – Sales pitches disguised as education will result in poor ratings and lost opportunities.

NOTE: Presentations must be educational. We understand that some of our speakers wish to network with attendees and showcase their services, but we kindly ask that your presentation not be a sales pitch. For this purpose, networking time will be made available to speakers, sponsors, and attendees. We appreciate your cooperation.

Recruiting, training, and maintaining a quality workforce

Industries and organizations that approach advocacy in a disciplined way win. With most of our reimbursement coming from government payors, why doesn’t every home-based provider prioritize advocacy as a critical business function? Advocacy is every agency’s responsibility. Join Deb Hoyt and David Totaro for With the Lion’s Share of your Agency’s Revenue Coming from Government Sources, the Value of Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy and Engagement is Mission-Critical. They will discuss how every agency can build internal capacity with existing staff and minimal resources to amplify state and federal advocacy messaging. They’ll demonstrate the value of external engagement and how it can positively impact your bottom line

This year’s Conference will be one for the books! Join all the featured speakers for the 12th annual @NEHCC conference at @gurneysnewport resort and marina in Newport, RI, May 11-13.

Build the Movement. Plan the Action. See Results.

Recruiting is challenging in good times; these are not good times. The stakes are high, and home care and hospice settings can’t afford to onboard talent that doesn’t fit their specific needs. Focus on what works in our region with the panel presentation, Closing the Workforce Gap by Transitioning New Nurses to Home-Based Care. Learn how successful agencies have revamped their hiring and onboarding processes with outstanding results during the breakout session Sustainable Hiring and Retention Strategies for Your Organization.

“I was not expecting this” and Other Truisms of Leading Through a Pandemic

Well, that was a lot, and we are not done yet. Today’s healthcare leaders are expected to handle everything from financial concerns and staffing issues to assuring quality and developing effective marketing. Gather with peers at the New England Home Health & Hospice Conference and Trade Show to discuss Leading in Times of Transition presented by Melynda Lee and Wayne Regan. Recognize the unique contributions and communication styles of you and your team gaps, identify opportunities to recruit and retain the best, and apply the best practices for succession planning to ensure your organization is ready for the future! Change is the only constant in healthcare. Effective and deliberate communication is even more critical during health systems acquisitions and mergers. Messaging a Merger: Positioning Your Organization for Success Today and the Future offers a road map and lessons learned on communicating to your internal and external audiences during a merger. Information is Key to Success (and survival)

New tools highlight your agency’s most significant performance and skill gaps; here’s what you need to know about them.

Clinical staff and managers are responsible for managing patient care within a complicated regulatory environment and an organizational expectation for excellent STARS ratings and patient engagement scores. Learn the most salient impacts on quality and engagement scores and revenue; and how to simplify and manage patient care within PDGM and HHVBP. Join Cheryl Pacella and Jean Zaleski of Corcoran Consulting for The Perfect Storm- Navigating QAPI, HHVBP, PDGM, and STARS. This session will provide you with tools to ensure continued clinical, financial, and operational success.

Whose goals are these anyway?

Clinicians can improve patient outcomes and increase satisfaction when patients’ goals and value aligns with their medical treatments. Explore how an agency can transition to Goal-Concordant Care with Wayne Grant of Delta Care Rx. This model of medical care This presentation explores how clinicians, administrators, and patients apply the concepts of goal-concordant care. By discussing advance care directives and exploring drug therapies, patients with serious illnesses can define what is important to them and their loved ones. Program participants will look at case studies to follow the path of drug change while understanding the complexity and controversies around various therapies. Develop your understanding of the drug delivery process in goal-concordant care and identify the obstacles while also realizing the positive impact of listening to our patient’s wishes.

Be the Change We Need. Identify the Ageism Around Us.

Ageism is one of the last acceptable forms of discrimination. It leads to poorer health, social isolation, and earlier deaths, but up your nose with a rubber hose, you might be more guilty of it than you think. Dr. Jennifer Kennedy will explore how our careless attitudes can be a threat to an already marginalized group during the breakout session A Wrinkle in Care: Ironing out Agism with Age-Friendly Care. The 4Ms framework for developing Age-Friendly Care is a wrinkle or innovation in care that directly challenges ageism and promotes older adults’ well-being and quality of life.
